Nestled in the picturesque valley of Tulbagh in South Africa's Western Cape lies Buchanan's Brook Farm, a haven of peace, tranquillity and relaxation.

The Cottages
Buchanan's Brook features three very charming, upmarket self-catering
cottages, one 2-bedroom cottage (Obiqua - sleeps 4) and two 1-bedroom
cottages (Saronsberg & Winterhoek - each sleep 2). All our cottages are
very spacious and luxurious and have stunning views of the mountain
ranges after which they are named.
Each cottage is fully equipped for self-catering and they all have
open-plan kitchen lounge areas with fire places and air-conditioning
while each bedroom is equipped with a ceiling fan and panel heaters.
The cottages are furnished in a country style with white Percale bedding
and plush white towels. We even provide you with separate towels for
swimming. Both of Obiqua's bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and
Saronsberg and Winterhoek each have their own separate bathroom.
All bathrooms are wood panelled with large walk-in showers. Cottages
have car ports, private patios with braai facilities, overlooking the
swimming pools with panoramic views of the mountains and vineyards. All
our cottages are non-smoking, but guests are welcome to smoke
outside on the verandas.
We supply you with coffee, tea, sugar rusks and fresh milk as well as a
basket of firewood every day.
Facilities & Activities
The large dam on the farm may be used for canoeing and fishing. It has
been stocked with Tilapia and Bass for the angling enthusiasts . A
two-seater Indian canoe is available for use on the dam.
We also have bicycles for those who wish to explore the valley and get
some exercise at the same time.
You are welcome to work up an appetite walking within the farm
boundaries. There are also many hiking options available in the Tulbagh
valley.
Visit the historic town of Tulbagh, just 3km away, with its national
monuments, stop for wine-tasting at any of Tulbagh's award winning wine
cellars or just relax by the pool to absorb and enjoy the beauty and
tranquil ambience that Tulbagh has to offer.
The Farm
Owners Rod & Marika Buchanan bought the derelict farm in 2004. A small
vineyard was planted in 2005 and the first grapes were harvested and
turned into wine in 2009. Two half-hectare net-houses were erected in
2007 and tomatoes and other vegetables are being grown hydroponically.
The farm itself is 44ha in extent and has a large dam.
